EXPLAINING THE ROCLITE V2 WATERPROOF HIKING BOOT RANGE
Following the launch of the new ROCLITE PRO G 400 GTX V2 and ROCLITE G 345 GTX V2 we now have two waterproof hiking boots and one waterproof hiking shoe – the ROCLITE G 315 GTX V2 – in our ROCLITE V2 hiking range.
The V2 stands for Version 2, meaning each of the three products is a new and improved upgrade on the award-winning originals, all of which were hugely popular.
In this blog post we highlight the differences between them.

ROCLITE PRO G 400 GTX V2 – TOUGH & PROTECTIVE HIKE BOOT
Launched: March 2023
Weight: 400g*
Drop: 8mm
Stack from floor to foot: Heel 33mm / Forefoot 25mm
Toe box width: 4**
Midsole foam: POWERFLOW MAX
Outsole compound: Graphene G-GRIP
Lug depth: 6mm
Rock plate: META-PLATE PRO 6TH GEN
If you love the feel of a protective hiking boot that is tough and supportive, this is for you. Perfect for longer, more demanding hikes and adventures over technical terrain.
The ROCLITE PRO G 400 GTX V2 shares the same Graphene-enhanced rubber compound as the 345 and 315. Thanks to the powers of Graphene – the strongest material on the planet – the rubber delivers the world’s toughest grip and is 50% harder wearing. And while the lug depths are also all the same (6mm), the studs on the 400 are shaped slightly differently for even greater traction on technical terrain.
Also underfoot, the 400 features an updated flexible rock plate that protects from sharp debris but also flexes to work with the natural movements of the foot when hiking. The 345 and 315 also have rock plates which are lighter but offer a little less protection.
The midsole material is the same across the three with the POWERFLOW MAX foam offering extra cushioning and energy return versus the previous foams used in the originals.
The slightly higher overall stack height on the 400 means more foam, comfort and protection underfoot than the 345 and 315, with the foot also sitting a little bit higher off the ground. The drop (heel to toe differential) is the same 8mm across all three.
The toe box width is slightly wider on the 400 for a little bit extra comfort on longer hikes and adventures, while the materials and technologies used on the upper make it tougher and more protective without compromising on flexibility.
The waterproof membrane is GORE-TEX XCR (Extended Comfort Range). This provides a comfort upgrade to the membrane, with all three being outstanding at repelling water and keeping feet dry.
The more protective features, technologies and upgraded materials contribute to making the 400 slightly heavier than the 345 boot and, of course, the 315 shoe.

ROCLITE G 345 GTX V2 – LIGHT & AGILE HIKE BOOT
Launched: March 2023
Weight: 345g*
Drop: 8mm
Stack from floor to foot: Heel 29mm / Forefoot 21mm
Toe box width: 3**
Midsole foam: POWERFLOW MAX
Outsole compound: Graphene G-GRIP
Lug depth: 6mm
Rock plate: META-PLATE 2ND GEN
If you love the feel of a lightweight hiking boot that is flexible and agile, this is for you. Perfect for fast-feel day hikes and adventures over hilly and mid-technical terrain.
The ROCLITE G 345 GTX V2 shares the same Graphene-enhanced rubber compound as the 400 and 315. And while the lug depths are also all the same (6mm), the studs on the 345 and 315 are shaped slightly differently for an all-round versatile grip.
Also underfoot, the 345 and 315 feature a flexible rock plate that protects from sharp debris but also flexes to work with the natural movements of the foot when hiking. The rock plate on the 400 is a bit heavier and offers a little more protection.
The midsole material is the same across the three with the POWERFLOW MAX foam offering extra cushioning and energy return versus the previous foams used in the originals.
The slightly lower overall stack height on the 345 and 315 means the foot sits a bit closer to the ground for a greater trail-connection feel and increased agility. The drop (heel to toe differential) is the same 8mm across all three.
The toe box width is in the middle of our 1-5 scale range, giving an excellent balance between comfort and hold. The upgraded upper materials on the 345 are 40% stronger than on the original, while still boasting superb levels of flexibility.
The waterproof membrane is GORE-TEX, which is outstanding at repelling water and keeping feet dry.
The 345 is lighter and more agile than the 400, which offers more protection and support. It is obviously heavier than the 315, which is a shoe.

ROCLITE G 315 GTX V2 – VERSATILE & MULTI-SPORT SHOE
Launched: November 2022
Weight: 315g*
Drop: 8mm
Stack from floor to foot: Heel 29mm / Forefoot 21mm
Toe box width: 3**
Midsole foam: POWERFLOW MAX
Outsole compound: Graphene G-GRIP
Lug depth: 6mm
Rock plate: META-PLATE 2ND GEN
If you love the feel of a shoe rather than a boot, this is for you. Perfect for hiking, trail running and sporting adventures over a wide range of terrains.
The ROCLITE G 315 GTX V2 shares many similarities with the 345, but in shoe form rather than boot.
It shares the same Graphene-enhanced rubber compound as the 400 and 345. And while the lug depths are also all the same (6mm), the studs on the 315 and 345 are shaped slightly differently for an all-round versatile grip.
Also underfoot, the 315 and 345 feature a flexible rock plate that protects from sharp debris but also flexes to work with the natural movements of the foot when hiking.
The midsole material is the same across the three with the POWERFLOW MAX foam offering extra cushioning and energy return versus the previous foams used in the originals.
The slightly lower overall stack height on the 315 and 345 means the foot sits a bit closer to the ground for a greater trail-connection feel and increased agility. The drop (heel to toe differential) is the same 8mm across all three.
The toe box width is in the middle of our 1-5 scale range, giving an excellent balance between comfort and hold. The upgraded upper materials on the 315 are stronger than on the original, while still boasting superb levels of flexibility.
The waterproof membrane is GORE-TEX, which is outstanding at repelling water and keeping feet dry.
Being a shoe, the 315 is lighter than the two boots and offers more freedom of movement through the ankles and that opportunity to use it for trail running and other outdoor sports, as well as hiking.

*Average weight across the size curve
**Toe box width is measured on our 1-5 scale (1 being narrowest, 5 being widest). As a rough guide, Grade 1 represents an industry B fit, while Grade 5 equates to a 2E fit in the forefoot.
