The 2024 Barkley Marathons was the most exciting in the event's 38-year history.
Not only did five runners finish the notoriously tough 100-mile ultramarathon but one of them, Jasmin Paris, made history by becoming the first woman to do so. Jasmin's inspiring story of success has since become red hot news across the world.
The Barkley Marathons is a sporting event like no other. Staged amidst thick mountain woodland in Frozen Head State Park, Tennessee, USA, the race sees runners attempting to complete a five-loop ultramarathon so tough that prior to this year only 17 people had reached the finish line since 1986.
To prove they've visited all checkpoints, runners tear pages from hidden books and return them to enigmatic race organiser Laz Lake at the end of each loop. The race time limit is 60 hours.
This year's five finishers were Ihor Verys, John Kelly, Jared Campbell, Greig Hamilton and Jasmin, with the latter finishing with just 99 seconds to spare!
INOV8 ambassador Damian Hall, in his second attempt at Barkley Marathons, almost made it six finishers, but retired on loop 5 when a tired navigational error led to him losing an insurmountable amount of time.
